um, okay, i guess flute sectionals are cancelled unless there is a time that is convenient for everyone besides in class.......and i didn't actually mean for you to have to change it to 'flutes/oboes' .........i was speaking figuratively, i mean im the only oboe and i'm a flute too..........but thank you devin.......

why can't we have Thurs. sectionals still. The people that do come can practice together. Jeez i've never heard logic to justify lack of sectionals. sorry...that just kinda bugs me. Had to stick my 2 cents in.

well, apparently that's straight from mr. p according to sam, so i have no control over that. but the thing is that hardly anyone showed up so there's no point to it, in order for sectionals to be effective the whole section has to be there to work together, not just a few people.

just in case anyone cares, i went to Ms. Dominowski's summer flute academy and it was a blast! i made some new friends (it was a very small group) and i learned a grade six concerto in four days. i also found a teacher and am waiting to schedule lessons with her. she's close, and very good. leah also recommends Carmen Bannon. I would highly recommend lessons to anyone who wishes to go further in music. also, if Ms. Dominowski does the flute academy next summer, i also recommend attending that, it was a great experience and i learned more about the flute in a small amount of time than i ever thought possible.

okay, well, I don't have a myspace, nor do I frequent the site, but I would just like to inform you all the the flute and piccolo section, aka "Flics" now have their own myspace. there aren't many of us right now, but hopefully it will continue with future generations of CHS flute players, Marching or Concert. so yay. ;D

HELLO FLUTES/OBOES!!!! wait...who plays the oboe??? wouldnt it be hard to march the oboe? what exactly is an oboe, anyways? is it like a flute? it must be because it's the "flute/oboe" section. maybe for winterguard we'll have an oboeist come play a solo. like one big oboe fest! YES! that's it! our show could be "sounds of the oboe!" I smell first place!

I play the oboe, freshman and sophmore year in concert band. Yes, oboes don't march, they would be in pit if one was needed. it looks more like a clarinet except thinner and the bell is different and it is a double reed like the bassoon. they play the same music as the flute a lot of times and some of the fingerings are similar a lot of flute players can play both or have at some point. If you don't play it right or when you're first learning, you sound like a dying duck, no kididng.
